GARROTXA VOLCANIC ZONE

With approximately forty volcanic cones and over twenty basalt lava outflows, the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone is the best example of volcanic countryside in the Iberian peninsular. The soil, climate and unique orographical features of the area combine to produce varied, often exuberant, vegetation with holm-oak, oak and beech woods of exceptional beauty.
