HOSTAL ESTRELLA In 1946 Lluís Dorca Marcé and Estrella Plana Banús, from El Pinós and El Collell farmhouses respectively in the nearby village of Pruit, opened a hostel in a large traditional mountain-style stone house that they built in the centre of Rupit. They called it Hostal Estrella, after Lluís’ wife. At that time Lluís transported wood and charcoal on pack animals and Estrella sold groceries and homemade ratafia liqueur. Later their son and daughter-in-law, Joan and Maria Lluïsa, and now their grandchildren have continued the family tradition of offering bed and board to their guests. The friendly service and peaceful, welcoming atmosphere make this the ideal place both for enjoying a restful, relaxing break and for discovering the magnificent surrounding countryside. Today the hostel has been newly equipped with a lift, children’s play room, meeting room with TV and Internet, bar, café and a restaurant serving home-cooked dishes made from quality local produce. The peaceful atmosphere and friendly service make Hostal Estrella the right place to stay at any time of the year.
